This one feels beyond language to me, and also somehow exactly right for moment (a bit as if discovered amid the rubble of a golden ballroom 100 years after its abandonment.) As an object, it's got an almost electrical charge to it (pulling me toward it like the strongest magnet!) and between the de-silvering to the mirror and the aging and wear to the strong yellow paint, it s a very painterly thing indeed. Very juicy. A few days after I found it, I came across a full scale art deco vanity that sat as low to the ground as this one, surely modeled on an actual piece.
7 1/8" w x 2 1/2" d x 9 1/4" t. C. 1920s-30s. Weathered and aged as evident, which is much of what makes it great; stable and sound, paint not chipping/flaking, mirror well attached and backed by wood as shown.
