Set of 21 Early Fortune Telling Cards with Great Graphics (+ One Extra)

Regular price $60.00

I've tried but not found an exact match out there of this set of cards, which I purchased from a good paper dealer in New Hampshire. Clearly a Lenormand sort of fortune telling deck, and perhaps closest in manner to a "Kladderadatsch" pack produced by Frommann & Bünte in Darmstadt, Germany, circa 1875--though on these small cards are just images, which makes them feel a step closer to Teuila fortune telling cards, introduced in 1899. Anyway, I believe this is just a partial set, 21 of what were likely 36, though there are none missing in the 1-21 run of them. One extra included, too--a beaded man over the number 2 (included in 2nd image) which I've had sitting around and is different, but I thought an nice little extra.  These are 19th century I sure, c. 1870s I would guess, and great looking things, on nice weight card--good at least for telling partial fortunes, and certainly for enjoying looking at! And between sun and moon and star, heart and cupid and house and key (and crown and bags of money, too), I'd say one has pretty much all one could want!

Each 2 3/8" x 1 15/16". All in very good condition. Set of 21, running 1-21 (21st card pictured in third photo) and one extra unmatched card pictured in 2nd photo.
