I've got a real thing for old, well used art supplies--I find them very romantic, and if ever there were objects that carried the creative energies of their former users, old paints and drawing materials surely do. Plus, color! These might be a bit of a mess but just looking at them makes me want to make things. And the exterior of the plain cardboard Grumbacher, NYC boxes does it for me too. A feeling their one time owner seemed to share--filling two of the boxes, which once held soft pastels, with oil pastels of other brands: Sennelier Paris, etc. What you see is what is here--the actual box of soft pastels nearly full, the other two a mish mosh.I find the color-stained interior pads quite beautiful too.
Square box: 7 1/4" x 6 1/2". Longer rectangular box 9" x 3 1/2" Smaller 6 3/4" l. Much used, as shown. The lid of the long rectangular box filled with soft (dry) panels has come apart from the box (hinge has torn) but fits atop it fine.
