Man with High Collar and Bow Tie, Evocative Early CDV Photo of Silhouette

Regular price $40.00

I purchased this one from a paper/ephemera dealer in my neck of the woods who always has interesting things, and was also the source of the Pullman QUIET sign today. It is an early CDV, an albumen photo of an earlier cut paper silhouette I believe. I find that particular albumen brown against cream very lovely, and always love a photo of an earlier form of representation, especially a portrait, and also love the that little bow tie! It strikes me too that it looks a bit like a face in profile poking out of a Christmas stocking!

 4 3/16" x 2 1/2", good condition, late 1850s/early 1860s I believe, unmarked back.
