Live and DIe for those We Love, Poignant and Scarce Mid 19th Century Engraved Sentiment Card

Regular price $35.00

I believe this small card, which I would call a "sentiment card" of sorts (different that a calling card, that would bear the caller's name) is early Civil War era, especially as I take that for an eagle protecting her nest. I can't find another like it anywhere out there, but I did find a 1861 pro-Union print, published by E.B. and E.C. Kellogg, titled The Eagle’s Nest, which I've included in photos--and which, like this, has a definite ferocity to it! I like it for that reason--a small card but a large matter. And the text on the banner is just excellent.

2 7/8" x 1 5/8". General soiling and some toning around the edges which seems just as it should be.
