A very early--1825!--handmade reward of merit for the spelling King! This makes me purely happy. I'm always on the hunt for early handwritten rewards of merit, but never imagined such a charmer as this. And its small scale makes it seem especially miraculous for it to have survived 200 years; one thinks this speller was very proud of himself!
3 1/4" x 1 1/2". Ink on wove. Surely some fading to the ink and general toning to the paper, but in good condition and ink remains pretty strong.
