Sometimes I think I should make a list of all of the collections I would devote myself to building it I had the time and means--and, perhaps most importantly, space! Beautiful antique wooden tools (especially measuring tools) would be one, antique tools incorporating hearts would be another, and here a bridge between the two. And an intimate feeling object that just feels great to hold in one's hand. I presume the heart cutout served the function of providing a hole to hang it from, but it would also have allowed the user to make a traced heart their signature! Some things feel especially alive with the life and spirit of their maker, and this is one of those for me.
