Hazel Owens's Full and Well Done Early 1900s Sewing Samples Notebook

Regular price $175.00

Just as I'll never tire of Froebel kindergarten albums with examples of paper folding and paper weaving, I'll also never tire of sewing lesson sample notebooks like this--each one very much its own thing even as many of the exercises become familiar. And there's some overlap between the two sorts here, too, with colored paper (a la Milton Bradley) used on a few pages to create mock-ups/patterns before executing them in cloth. Photos give a comprehensive sense, though they are not in sequential order. Lots of great color, and quite a variety of exercises completed. Early 20th century.

7 1/16" x 6 1/2". 28 pages, full. Almost entirely one side of page only. Losses around the edges of cover as evident and one wants to be gentle with it. The ribbon binding the pages through three holes along left edge of papers could be removed to open it all up. Some toning/soiling visible on white cotton samples (which are nearer the front of the notebook) but overall samples are in very good condition, firmly mounted to pages via brass clips.
