(First photo composite showing both sides.)
Stunning, with these best blue glass beads, which are tiny tiny, against which the beaded patterns just vibrate, especially that red. Made of hide, which is visible on the interior, as are sinew stitches attaching the handle. C. 1900 I believe, with related examples out there using commercially produced clasping handles like this, which would have been traded for. (A photo of a late 19th century Sioux purse included at end of photos as example--though the manner of the beadwork on this makes me this Plateau rather than Plains.) I found this at an antique shop in Upstate NY near Lake George.
4 1/4" x 3 1/8". Beautiful condition, not one lost bead, and not fragile at all.
