This and a second example by the same unknown maker listed today. So fun, and if the subject of the portrait on the other looks a bit buffoon-ish, this one looks thoughtful and kind. Lots packed in here--detail photos give a good sense, including of several rubbings of coins, including a half dime, (minted from 1792 to 1873.) I'm going to take this one as having a worth of $9900 as that appears pretty much everywhere!. I know from the seller that this, and a second listed today, were pulled out of an old estate in Louisville, Kentucky. They both seems to draw reference/inspiration from numerous currency sources, later 19th century treasury notes among them it seems. I know hand-drawn fantasy money was a thing (and may yet be again!) but this/these are really the first examples I've come across and I think they're quite fantastic.
7 5/8" x 3". Good condition, with small losses to a few corners and scattered minor surface wear and light creases (mostly from the coin rubbings I thing.) Reads strong and pretty crisp.
