A wonderfully executed sailor/whaler made whalebone ladies leg pipe tamper, with incised decoration executed using a needle and lamp black (soot) I believe--right down to the nails on the sole of her boot! Ultra smooth surface, gorgeous form, excellent condition, really a marvelous small thing.
2 5/16" l x 1/2" x 1/4", excellent condition, with only signs of age and use being the blackening of the flat tamper end.
