A lovely and I think very charming antique Chinese silk on silk embroidery here, in original frame under glass--made to function as a small tray, though easy to add a hook to the back and hang on the wall. I fell in love with the figure at center, who I take for a child in pig tails, fortuitously framed by flying butterfly, flower, tree and what looks like a peach dangling over head... a garden of delights! With metallic thread incorporated here and there as well. C. late 19th century I believe.
10 1/4" x 4 7/8". Some staining to the cream silk along the edges; backing and padded feet on the underside indicate this was indeed used as a tray. Overall good condition, feels brighter and also finer in hand, details give a better sense.
