Charming Trio of Hand-drawn Paper Dolls in Garters with Collection of Handmade Dresses

Regular price $110.00

What charmers these three in their underwear, especially those garters extending all the way from their very high waists! Excellent faces too, the tallest one, who I take for big sister, looking perhaps none too glad to be so exposed! (And with what what look like a hybrid of curls and widely protruding ears to either side of her head.) Purchased from a great New England dealer with all of these dresses included--some of which are double sided, meant to fit over their heads--but the openings are not always wide enough to accommodate the heads of these particular dolls, so I'm not sure that all were intended for these three. Those with hand-drawn graphite details on them though I believe definitely were, and just lay over top--i've pictured a few different selections and think they look completely fetching in them!

Tallest doll 3 1/8" Smallest 2 1/2". All shown included.  The head of the paper doll at left in first photo had torn so I re-secured it with clear archival tape from the reverse; stable now with the tear evident only if looking for it. Otherwise all in good condition, not fragile. Late 19th/very early 1900s I believe. As noted above, some of the dresses are fold-over ones (double sided) with the openings for the head not wide enough to easily fit over these dolls. Slits could easily be cut to make them so, but otherwise they can just be set on top.
