Charles Ainsworth Chauffeur Liscence, Halesito NY, 1941

The first thing I thought of when I saw Charles Ainsworth was of Mad Men--doesn't he just look like he'd be in the room with Peggy Olsen? Or perhaps the handsome son of neighbors to the Drapers in Ossining, NY (Westchester county)? Our Charles in fact lived not too far from there, in Halsite, NY, on the North shore of Long Island, during a period of its transformation from small town to bustling suburbs. I always like photo ID cards for the way they immediately spur one to imagine a specific other life, and in this case to imagine, too, who Charles might have been chauffeuring around. 

 3 7/8" x 1 7/8" as shown in first photo. It does unfold, and is double-sided as shown. Well worn but good overall condition.
