Marvelous, and very exactingly executed, this is a cut paper work on on laid paper with graphite drawn details, c. late 19th century I believe. Photos give a good sense, including of the construction, with very thin strips of paper left in place crossing the body of the cat, inked black to match (and disappear against) the black paper behind. Unusual in my experience to see a combination of drawing and paper cutting/scherenschnitte, quite excellent.
Closed (as shown) 7 1/8" x 4 1/4". Very good condition, no losses and very minimal wear. The black paper on the interior does not go all the way up as shown. Additional black paper could easily be inserted if one didn't want to have a distinction visible from the face. Small spot of adhered torn paper on reverse side as shown.
