Antique Oil on Linen Painting of Pink Roses Against Deep Aqua

The intense blue green ground of this old oil on canvas painting of pink roses is what makes it for me, giving it a sort of otherworldly feel and transforming it from a pretty floral painting into something much moodier. The unstretched canvas shows some wear, which in this case feels to me exactly right, and I'd be included to hang it on the wall from a couple of pins to the top corners, just as it is.

11 3/4" x 8 1/8. Late 19th/early 20th century I believe, with a penciled note on the back that it was the first painting done under the instruction of Augie Dea___?
