19th Century Piecework Block in Lemon Gold Frame

I'm not in the least a quilt expert, but I sure do love color and pattern, and this framed piecework block just struck me as a really beautiful thing. Just right I think in this old lemon gold frame, which encourages close looking at its wonderful play of (happily not quite straight) lines and grids in light blue, cream, navy and white, made all the better I think by a few old stains, speaking to its one-time function. To me, quite a heartening and  satisfying thing.

Framed: 10 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 7/8" A little wear to the paint on the frame along the edges and a little staining to the fabric as noted. but overall very good condition. Some glare in photos! Wired on the back for hanging. Papered back has been torn up a bit but frame is securely sealed.
