My new favorite drawing, I find this just brilliant. One of two by a young Laverne Lovell listed today, plucked from a large pile of her work at Brimfield; she definitely had a singular way of seeing and rendering the world! The architectural way these trees are drawn, delineating negative space for this creature--a squirrel I presume--to inhabit, just totally does it for me. And then a pinecone and and a nut or acorn on the ground? I will hold this one in my mind forever I think.
9 1/8" x 6". Areas of toning to the paper along the right and bottom right edge--and a tiny bit upper left too--as evident.
