I do believe this is the sweetest and folkiest little sailor made basket I've ever seen! Feels almost as if made to serve as the loving nest for a bird's egg. Nothing quite regular about it, with some scallops on the scalloped edge scalloping a little higher than others. All the better and more dear in hand, and of course all the better for knowing this was made by a crafty sailor at sea, likely to bring home as a sweetheart gift--a total charmer.
2 1/2" t x 3 1/4" d. Good condition, sound and stable, c. late 19th century.
