I purchased this along with a second retablo also listed today, of somewhat different sorts, but both from the same collection and similarly (I would say perfectly in both cases) framed. Pretty fabulous faces on this group of supplicants/mourners, all with the blacks of their big bright eyes cast heavenward. And those blue suits! And those men's haircuts too. I especially like the glimpses of brilliant orange peeking out beneath the women's black robes, with the same orange lending brilliance to the flowers in the urns. Relatively uncommon in my experience to find a retablo in which no Christ or saint is pictured, here just the cross before which this group has gathered, one assumes to pray for, or offer thanks for the salvation of, a loved one (or ones.) C. 1930-40s I would guess, with perfect amount of paint loss and scratching.
10 3/4" x 7 7/8" framed, as found. Good condition, painting on tin, wear and scratching as evident , all to the good in my opinion. Framed as found in a nicely silver/gold painted deep wooden frame, wired on the back for hanging.
