There is some writing on the back of the tissue weight paper that frames, backs and flaps down over this hand-drawn map of Spain and Portugal--a bit hard to read to name of the maker, but the location of its making--Wilmington, Delaware, United States--is clear. I love a hand-drawn map and this a very sweet one, a topographical map, all about the lay of the land, with dots for cities but no named locations, and excellent title lettering along the bottom (I love the kick of that "A" at the end of Portugal.) Mid 1800s, black ink on paper with a few graphite drawn lines on the paper as guides, surely made in school. With the paper wrap making it feel as though made to carry in one's breast pocket while heading off to explore the land described!
4 1/4" x 4 3/4" as shown in first photo. Very good condition.
