A total charmer, many times better in person. I know this came from a Midwestern farm community, and would very much bet the feathers that fill it were plucked by the person who made it, or at least a member of their family. Light weight red wool ground with cotton and wool appliqué, plus wonderfully embroidered hat and fingers and toes! I especially love the tiny white horse on red ground stitched on like a patch at his feet, suggesting our boy here loved his horses--and then cartoons, too! Made for a child, I presume, with a whole lot of love, c. 1940s or so I would guess.
14 3/4" x 13". Very good condition, no holes, odors, or stains. One bottom pant leg is untethered near at the hem, no real matter, and not going anywhere, but could easily be secured with a couple simple stitches.
