A charming and very joyful one in all regards. Of course its the big yellow bird that won me, but then look at how wonderfully the vase (I guess it is a vase) holding the roses below is rendered, looking a lot like an hour glass/sand timer. (And so, whether intentionally or not, seeming to foreshadow the fading of the flowers and flight of the bird, making their moment here feel all the more of a season. Colored pencil/crayon and graphite on ledger paper, later 19th century I believe. Framed as found, under glass, in a wonderful 19th century lemon gold frame.
14 4/8" x 10 3/4" framed. Drawing and frame both in very good antique condition, with just minor general wear to surface of the frame as there should be.
