Made by a proud Mason who was also a metalworker / machinist, I presume, this desk ornament completely won me with its folkiness--especially that compass, which looks to my eye quite like a pair of ladies legs, with an oddly positioned--and anatomically suggestive!--rendering of the pin connecting them. Looks a bit like an all seeing eye too. Pretty fun.
4 3/8” t x 4 5/8” w x 1 9/16” d and in very good condition. Nice patina to the brass, and green felt on the underside of the base. C. 1940s or so I would guess.
