Wonderfully Expressive c. 1920s-40s Etching of Curly Haired Man Singed MW

I have not figured out the artist who created this etching, signed MW inside the print, but I think it is quite wonderful. I purchased it from a favorite shop in New Hampshire and know it came out of an art collector's estate which included some significant pieces, but I don't know more than that. I would guess second quarter 20th century and the subject looks African American to me, perhaps an artist himself, with this background of interlocking rings, evocative of a modernist painting. I love his face, and  purposeful expression, and the focused energy and expressiveness to it as a whole.

Paper size 13 5/8" x 9 3/4". Image: 4 5/8" x 3 9/16". Staining/toning along the bottom edge of the paper as evident, just needs a mat over it.
