The patina on this beautifully carved small totem pole is fantastic, and the painting really wonderful, done in a relatively reserved palette of red, blue and black, with pale yellow for the dots on the wings of the eagle and sides of the figure below. I am not at all an expert, but believe this is most likely by a Nootka (Nuu-chah-nulth) carver from the SW Coast of Vancouver Island, and mostly likely dates to the earlyish 20th century. Unsigned, but my guess is done by a carved of some note.
6 15/16" t x 1 1/4" w x 1 1/18" d. Very good condition, with a super warm presence; one tiny nick in the wood on the lower lip of the bottom figure and light surface wear consistent with age.
