I generally keep an eye out for great old handmade ragdolls, though it is not too often that I find one I both really love and can afford (doll dealers & collectors are a pretty keen bunch!)--but this sweet thing is definitely one, and I think just wonderful. I purchased her from a woman who found her is Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania 50 years ago and has had her in her personal collection since, and I believe the doll is at least twice that in age. The black striped whites of her blue eyes and the marvelous lines of her black hair really get me, all hand-embroidered, and then these great crocheted booties and underwear revealed when one pulls up her linen dress. Densely stuffed with rags, she's very heavy, and any loose seams were lovingly mended long ago--she's super solid and sound.
14 7/8" tall x 8 1/2" wide x 3 1/4" deep. There is one small tear in her linen dress--on the backside, as pictured--minor.
