I'm very tempted to keep this one for myself, but as I'm needing to fund an upcoming long road trip (aka buying trip), I'm going ahead and listing it. For me the painting has a bit of a Van Gogh feel about it channeled into portraying a fisherman at work that feels very Gloucester, MA, which is very near to where I found it. Our man, in his slicker and great yellow rain hat and pants, looks to have just pulled up a fish, soon to be dropped in one of the tubs next to him, which look to already hold many companions to it. I'm especially curious about the yellow slicker form to his left, which looks like more of a ghost than a person, but which seems to somehow be holding an oar. And then these wonderfully painted choppy green waters, with ship in the distance appearing to ride the crest of a wave. Lots better in person, and just right I think in the mellow gold painted frame I found it in.
Framed: 19" x 14 3/4". Painting, oil on board, 15 1/4" x 11 3/8". Perhaps a little dirty but great just as it is and with no issues. Unsigned from what I can tell. Earlyishg 20th century I would guess.
