This wonderful thing! Its body is an old turned wooden post of some sort, into which eyes were scraped, punctuated with pencil at their centers and a little nose and mouth below, making it look rather like a cat. Around the dowel two different layers of cotton cloth were wrapped around and around, with two slits cut in the heavier cloth through which the hand-sewn calico arms were pulled out. Those arms look to have received a few mends near the ends over time but altogether the doll is in great condition, and really quite a special thing I think.
6" t x 2'" in diameter; 1 1/16" across at base. It will stand on its own if well balanced.
