Photos don't do justice to this terrific old frame, which is totally radiant, and pretty much vibrates with a sense of the love and care and that went into its making. I really really love pattern-intensive handmade things like this, which embody both the great aspirations of their maker and the impossibility of exactitude when doing things by hand. Along these lines, I think this is the sort of frame that could make for some really wonderful formal and/or conceptual pairings with whatever it frames up, though it would be pretty great for a small mirror too!
Second half of 19th century I would think, and in great condition. 10 7/8" tall x 8 5/8" wide x 11/16" deep. Inset on the back for picture and glass is approx. 7 x 4 3/4"; visible image size would be 6 5/8" x 4 1/2".
