I don't think I've ever seen a better squirrel silhouette than this one, holding I assume an acorn in its paws, or one clad in a better coat of paint than this green, which has alligatored to total perfection. Definitely this is an early one as far as American folk art wooden doorstops go; based on the nails and paint and the monochrome, I would think 19th c. Really a beautiful thing.
7 1/2" t x 5 1/8" w x 7" d and in very good aged condition, stable and sturdy. There appears to be a well done old split repair to the base toward the right.
