I am completely taken with this small oil on board still life of a couple of oranges; just a little gem of a painting I think. Initialed and dated at bottom right--A.J.B (18)77 I believe--I like it even better for the aging of the paint, which has had made the skin of the unsliced orange, especially, feel all the more orange like; just fantastic. And just right set on this simple tabletop, with a loose suggestion of wood grain, against a soft, graduated soft green background. So lovely.
9 7/8" w x 7 3/8" t. A little wear along the left edge and small bump to the bottom right corner but overall very good condition.
