Photos don't quite capture the beauty of the creamy white ground here, and how fresh and satisfying the matte painted colors of the shirts and paints of the kneeling figures feel against it, but at least they give some sense. While I tend to favor earlier ex voto retablo, this one really does it for me, feeling minimalist and lush at the same time, and both charmingly naive and crisply modern.
The text explains, best I can read and translate, that Roman Rodriguez and J. Natividad Galvan found themselves in a tribulation because of a crime for which they were taken to jail and held prisoners for a month, with the whole family prosecuted. A Mrs. Ricarda Ramirez enlisted "Señor de la Piedad de la Palma" (the Lord of Mercy) on their behalf, to whom they give infinite thanks for the miracle [of their release, I presume].
