A great one from 1945 by New Yorker cartoonist, illustrator and children’s book writer William Steig, featuring 91 line drawn caricature portraits of types from "the Tool" to "the Investor" to the "Merry Widow", "Fall Guy", "Boy Scout", "Ambulance Chaser". etc. This was Steig’s fourth book of "symbolic drawings," expressing what he called "the psychopathology of everyday life." A great gift for one’s favorite keen observer of character, or for the coffee table.
7 3/4" x 5 3/8". 91 pages of drawings with blank pages opposite. Some wear and a little tearing to the dust jacket but book itself is in very good, very clean condition.
