This fabulous drawing came from a porfolio of c. 1916-18 art school drawings by a student named Rachel S. Roberts--but is quite out of keeping with the rest of her drawings, most clearly done for assignments, and I have to think it was likely done by someone else. Perhaps by a young man and fellow student encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone?! We'll never know, but hard to beat it as a portrait of a bad boy on his bike, complete with cigarette hanging out of the corner of his mouth!
Graphite on board. 9" x 12". Old tape on the top two corners and center bottom and a little smudging all over.
