This is one of six carved and painted birds I found together, all signed H. Sloan, Maine, and I believe dating to the 1980s or so. I've found a few other birds signed by Sloan out there on the internet, but haven't been able to dig up anything about him, and don't have a first name. Clearly he loved his birds, and would guess that living in Maine might have had a particular affection for the bluebird--and this one feels perhaps a bit older than the others.
5 1/4" long measured beak to tail; 3 1/4" t. There is one split in the wood of the base, coming in from the edge; otherwise very good condition. Signed on the underside of the base.
