Victorian (1880s) Needlepoint Cat Over Wood Panel with Dated Newspaper on Reverse (Framed as Found, No Glass)i

This one was sent to me by a follower, who thought it might be one I'd like, and indeed this kitty is right up my alley! At about 140 years old, seems to me like one wise cat, stationed forever on its gray and red patterned mat, eyes cast downward, while the world has swirled wildly around it. With a sweet and calming presence.

Framed as found, where it appears always to have lived: 11 3/8" x 10 1/4". Sight: 7 3/4" x 6 3/4". No glass, and the frame,  is missing a piece along the bottom interior edge. Original wood panel back with newspaper covering dated 1885.
