Found in Pennsylvania, surely made by a boy scout long ago (c. 1920s-40s I believe) and which I found too earnestly hard-trying and full of life to resist. The eagle with its wings spread feels simultaneously humble and proud in a great way, and the carved teeth and nostrils on the creature below (looks rather like a dinosaur!) I think are really are excellent. Lots of sweet old boy scout carved totem poles out there, but less often do I see a relief carved panel of one, and I like the sense that the carving here is just capturing a a detail of a much taller totem.
7 7/8" x 7 3/4" x 15/16" and in very good condition, with a hook on reverse for hanging.
