Such a curious one, purchased from a favorite dealer friend in Maine, the source of many a wonderful thing. She appears to be a pipe bowl, carved entirely of wood (one piece of her torso, one for her lower half) with the bowl of the pipe at her crotch and the stem of the pipe extending from her rear end! She is also hinged at the hips--not a lot of give there, but some; I'm guessing that when smoked she rocks a bit to and fro! (One would just needs a pipe stem to give her a try.) I'm quite content just to imagine that though and enjoy her as she sits, looking rather fierce, and proud, and maybe better not messed with! Unusual and fabulous, late 19th or so I would guess.
