I don't know where these blocks came from - whether once part of a larger set, or just their own thing.. .there is a sense of completeness about just the three, reading Tumble, Down, Dick and with numbers 5, 10, and 15 on the other sides. Tumbledown Dick originated as a satirical nickname for Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell, after his fall from power after a brief 9 month reign (1658-9), and then was taken as the name for what became a famous public house in Hampshire, England, The Tumbledown Dick, which operated from many centuries. I am quick sure they proceed the downfall of Richard Nixon--but certainly there are lots of other Dicks/dicks out there one might like to see tumble down, and various sorts of games one might invent to play with these.
Each 1 3/4" square, set of three. Paper litho on solid wood blocks. Terrific color, good overall condition, with some wear to the "Down" on the green one as shown.
