Three Leaves, Delicate and Poetic Feeling Small Photogram/Photograph

Regular price $110.00

It is dangerous for me to go to top notch shows with really excellent photography dealers (and paper dealers too)--I could spend my whole life savings quickly. Such was the case at the Boston Antiquarian Book Fair last week, so many wonderful things. I came home with a handful of photos that I found too perfect in one way or another to walk away from. My disposition is toward images I myself would like to live with and think I would never tire of looking at. Like this. With the qualities of a photogram, but perhaps a photograph of a photogram, printed smaller in scale, or a photograph of leaves laid out on glass--the effect of which has me thinking about the scale of leaves, and so the too the scale of all things, micro and macro and in between. I like it for feeling mysterious, and with every tiny vein on the leaves revealed in sharp detail it feels scientific too, probing the nature of growth itself.  And perfectly composed, making one feel all is right, just lovely.

3 1/2" x 2 9/16", very good condition, earlyish 20th century I believe, glossy surface.
