I've developed a real weakness for handmade cloth dolls, and this is quite an old one, with a super warm, serene personality, which I must say makes her very nice to have around! Very late 19th/very early 20th century I believe, sewn of cotton fabric and stuffed with cloth it seems, with a hand embroidered face and cotton yarn (dyed in variegated shades of browns) for her wonderful head of hair. Simple, short arms and legs, and then this long yellow printed dress, gathered at the shoulders (with a pin securing it on the front, and a safety pin holding it together on the back.) Plus this great embroidered piece of what I assume is meant to be head jewelry animating her forehead!
The doll herself measures 10 7/8" tall x 6" wide x 2 1/4" d. Hanging down, her dress makes her 14 1/2" long. There is a large stain to the bottom of her dress on on one side, and one small stain to the far left of her face around the chin area, but she is in overall very good condition, with no tears or loose seams or losses.
