Looking at these pencils all laid out in front of me makes me really really happy and I find them tremendously beautiful as a collection. For many reasons. Nothing better than pencil yellow I think, and so many associations rolled up in that instantly, pretty much universally recognizable color. But even more so I like thinking about all the hours and hours and hours and hours of use, and sharpening again and again and again, that got these specific pencils here, some of them barely an inch long and a few sharpened at both ends, many of them chewed on, most of them with no erasers left. I know from the seller they came out of an old general store in Connecticut--as I understand it, these were the pencils used at the counter for writing orders, receipts, etc. A whole lot of life and history embodied in these!
Varied sizes but all very much used, about half length or less. All pictured included.
