I'm drawn to pattern like a magnet, and for me it doesn't get much better than the blue and red combinations on this 19th century needlepoint pouch--I can't decide which side I like best, as I think both are just stunning. I love the variation to the blue especially, a perfect imperfection I assume product of variation in the original dying of the thread. I would guess some sort of closure was originally planned for this but not completed, all to the good I think as it makes a nice and easy pocket or sleeve for a book or notebook or love notes now, lined with silky purple-brown fabric, very clean.
6 /8" x 5 5/8" and in very good, stable, not fragile condition. A few small scattered losses as evident. Thread is cotton I believe, and color is even more beautiful than photos convey.
