I've been paying more attention to hand-painted folk art tintypes of late, and this one is exactly why-- wonderfully strange! I do think the face on this baby looked a little like the face of an old man to begin with, but the painted blue eyes very much contribute to it, and the pinking of those downturned lips, too. And then these wonderful graphite drawn hands, like little paws resting on a big belly! With charming white painted lace collar and cuffs, and lush red, looking like velvet, propping our baby up from behind. Really a fun one I think.
