This is a vintage bowl by Don Williams, a Deerflied, NH based ceramicist who has been creating functional and sculptural work since the late 1970s. This piece is emblematic of his work--beautifully crafted, with an Asian-influenced aesthetic; quite an elegant and refined piece. The glazing is a mottled salmony pink/peach over cream slip, with a wonderful solid black glazed edge on one side. There is enough depth to the bowl to make it useful for serving, but it's also great just for display. I found this piece at the estate sale at the home and studio of an artist in Wellesley, MA, who had many many fine things, including some notable ceramics and glass.
11" corner to corner; 8 1/2" straight across; 3 1/4" tall. Excellent condition. Signed on the bottom.
