I really like the geometrical form of this old tramp art bank, which feels bold for the lack of chip carving to the stacked layers, and very concerted, like a piece of architecture. It also feels rather as if those stacked sides were made to create a sort of protective armor around the coins stored inside! A satisfying object with a great old crusty surface, which will also tip up to stand at a 45 degree angle. It appears one could open it by removing the two nails on the underside, but I haven't tried.
4 5/8" x 4 5/8" x 2 5/8" t. Sturdy and sound with no losses to the wood that I see, though perhaps there was once a pull of some sort on the face, where there is a hole now. Plenty of surface wear and aging, all to the good.
