Sculptural (Noguchi-esque!) Old Japanese Spools Wound in Luminous, Ethereal Spun Silk Thread (Sold Individually)

Regular price $75.00

I'm hoping to go to Japan in the year ahead, and if I do I'd happily fill my suitcase with old wooden spools wrapped in hand-spun, hand-dyed silk thread like these three. The silk thread on these is so fine, and the color so luminous, it feels as if they are lit from within, and they are of the scale to feel like tabletop sculptures. I still need to get to the Noguchi show currently up at the Pebody Essex Museum near me, but these feel like they're delivering a bit of Noguchi straight to me in the meantime.

Sold individually. Add one or more to your cart and please indicate in notes field at checkout the color/s of the one/s you would like. Cream: 6" t x 4 3/16" wide and deep. Green: 5 3/4" t x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". Blue 5 3/4" x 3 7/8" x 3 7/8". All in very good condition, with some old inked/painted writing on tops and bottoms of the spool. The thread is tightly wrapped around them but obviously with loose ends; I'll take care in packing such that they don't begin unravelling.
