The form of this terrific old chip carved tramp art frame keeps making me think of a child in the snow making a snow angel, or maybe of a big brown bear standing on hind legs! It is an old one, first quarter of the 20th century or so I believe, with a wonderfully warm patina, and in great shape still. The only missing bit that I can see if the very top layer on the upper right "arm," but it must have been lost quite some time ago as the wood has aged enough to make the loss pretty much disappear.
Made of cigar boxes, the frame features what I believe is the original glass, and the wood panel protecting it on the backside is secured by tiny screws, easily opened with a tiny flathead screwdriver. All in great shape.
8 1/2" tall x 5 3/4" wide x 1 3/4" deep. Oval shaped opening measures approx 3 3/4" tall x 2 5/8" wide.
