In this age of artificial intelligence, my want for simple, tactile things designed with the capacity to engage one for many hours grows ever stronger. I believe tangrams are mid 19th century Chinese in origin, but have since been produced in endless forms. To my mind and eye, it doesn't get better than this small wooden Elzzup Puzzle in its smart red box--most of all because of the gorgeous 64 page booklet inside, which looks to have been woodblock printed in black ink (varying beautifully from fully saturated to less so), and shows shape after shape that might be created with the blocks; really, its own little work of art. Great for the brain, great for the eyes, and alive in space where they intersect.
3 3/16 x 3 3/16 x 1/2. General wear and a stain to the top edge of the box exterior; blocks and booklet in excellent condition.
